Fred Stokes isVice President – Corporate HR (CSC) at Lowe’s Home Improvement. He leads numerous strategic programs in stores to improve employee engagement. He is active in designing, measuring and tracking progress of employee engagement and operation performance to help reach Lowe’s goals of positive employee engagement. Prior to joining Lowe’s, Fred was a labor relations manager for the world’s largest retailer, Wal-Mart, where he not only successfully responded to union organizing campaigns, but ran programs that increased employee engagement by 39% within the Northeast Division. Fred’s drive for results with people and operations stems from his career within both operations through loss prevention and his time as an employee relations manager and management trainer. Prior to entering the private sector, Fred spent over ten years in public service through the United States Navy, city and Federal law enforcement. He has a BA in Criminal Justice from Governors State University and is currently working towards his MBA from the University of Illinois. Fred lives in Chicago, with his wife and two sons, where he likes to spend as much quality time as possible when he is not working or studying.
