You could say I started Lynne Franklin Wordsmith 16 years ago because I was in danger of being made a partner at the world’s largest investor relations agency. Or because a tarot card reader told me to. Or because I wanted to prove my theory that wearing pantyhose didn’t make me more productive. All of those would be true.
But the real truth is that being a financial, corporate and marketing communications consultant allows me to do what I do best: use communications to help businesses solve their problems and increase their success. This takes four forms:
1. On a Project Basis When a client needs a particular communication — from a Web site to an annual report to executive training — I use a thorough process to create it.
2. As an Outsourced Corporate Communications Department Small to mid-sized companies often don’t have a full-time need, or can’t afford to pay a full-time professional. I take over this function for them — giving them the benefit of a senior consultant.
3. As a Member of Their Communications Team Larger firms can be short-handed, have an uneven workflow, or lack expertise in a key area. I become another employee: on- or offsite.
4. As a Team Leader Sometimes a project or program requires a number of professionals to complete. I create a virtual team of experts, hand-picked for that client’s needs, and then manage the group to complete the work on time and on budget.
My personal mission statement is to be an excellent communicator, using my talents and skills to help business partners, not-for-profits, family and friends to become more successful.
